Yesterday Ben M went to National young leaders day. With Kelvin (room 3) Emily (room 12) and Charlie (room 13).The speakers were Josh Emett, James Blake, Nick Tuitusi, Sheryl Scanlan and James Beck they all talked to us about becoming a young leader. I thought it was AWESOME! My favourite part was the Disco party with the glow sticks and my favourite speaker was James Beck because he was funny.

Paper mache
Room 2 have been making paper maiche using glue and lots of paper!
We have to do a few layers of paper and glue we have to make a mountain, valley and shore line. First you draw the out line of your ice, shore line, mountain and valley then you can start putting on the glue and paper. After you have put on a couple of layers and the mountain on, wait for it to dry. Then you can start to paint it and we are going to make some wildlife creatures to go on our paper mâché.

Recently he went to Antarctica as a tourist. He came to show us some
photos of his adventure. He told us about the wildlife and how cold it is
down there. We learned that it can get below -40 degrees. We enjoyed
looking at the pictures of the wildlife.

Dom's Vortex
Yesterday at cubs we made Vortex's. When you tip it upside down without shaking it no water comes through the vortex (the blue bit in the middle) because the air pressure in the bottom is holding it up but when you shake it, it allows the air to get up and water to get down creating a vortex.

Bob Bickerton
Bob Bickerton came to visit Wakari School. He came to talk to us about his instruments. Bob also told us how they caught whales 160 years ago. He brought a flute made out of sheep bone and showed us how to use it. Bob had a harp that he has had for 30 years and it is really cool. He has a violin and he plays it really well.

Mandarin classes
Yesterday Luke,Emma, Sian and I went to Balmacewen Intermediate for our first Mandarin class.
Mandarin is China's official language. We got picked in particular because we are doing really well in French. It was fun and I'm looking forward to learning more of the language.

Time capsule
In Antarctica there is a time capsule and there is one in Wakari School also in a big white tube.We put the the time capsule there to mark the 150th birthday of Wakari School and we are going to open it in 100 years.
The time capsule in Antarctica has been created by the cold weather.
Do you know where Wakari School's time capsule is? This photo may give you a clue.......
