School Council

At Wakari School we are starting a School Council. In Room 2 we are going to have an election to see who will be chosen. Every person has to vote for at least one person. It is optional if you want to enter the election. If we want to be on the council we have to make a speech in front of the class. Some of the things that we think the councillors need are ....
To be sensible
To be honest and
To follow the 4Cs.
We wonder who will be our councillors?

Emily and Joey received the first Assembly certificates of the year for Room 2.
The first Assembly certificates of the year were for settling into work quickly. Congratulations to Emily and Joey who were spotted getting on with their work this week.

Jaymie's picture

Jaymie, her mum and her little brother went to see the planes at 'Wings and Wheels' at the Taieri airport.
Their favourite part was looking at the fire engines.

Metro Cricket Trials

On Sunday Aryan, Jacob and Jackson went to the Metro cricket trial. It was held at the Edgar Centre from 10:30 to 12:00 . We all played pretty well but Aryan thought his bowling wasn't as good as it could have been. The results were out today. Jacob and Jackson got through it but Aryan didn't.

Respect in Room 2

This term Wakari School are focusing on the value of respect.
In Room 2 today we talked about what respect means to us.
Then we took some photos of ways that we can show respect to our friends, in the classroom and in the playground.

I wonder if you can think of any other ways to demonstrate respect.....

Sketching from different perspectives

This term Room 2 are doing picture making as our art topic. This morning we crossed the road and went up the track for a good view of the school to sketch. Some people thought it was easier to sketch the school from on top of the hill because it we were looking down at it.
We're going to use our sketches to create some art work for our classroom.

Our first 'Sports Activator' session for 2012

Yesterday Ginni came to do small ball skills with us. We really liked the cricket game because you had to hit the ball hard and run fast. The hardest thing that we had to do was throw a ball up, clap above and below it and then catch the ball before it hit the ground. Thanks Ginni, it was fun!
